Youth Development and Employment
-
Rounding out RISE programming, we train and employ youth from North Fair Oaks with care and intentionality. These high-school-aged teens, often siblings or neighbors of the children in our program, receive hands-on training in leadership, mentorship, and advanced job readiness skills.
-
As part of their first work experience, youth serve as tutors, mentors, and program helpers. They support young children academically, assist with daily program logistics, and model what it looks like to lead with kindness and purpose.
-
This first job builds more than a resume. It helps NFO youth grow in confidence, communication, and professional skills, while earning income in a trusted and affirming environment. In return, they become role models for the next generation, inspiring children in RISE to see what's possible for their own future.
“I was surprised and really thankful when Frances offered me the job to help other kids like my little brother.”

“As a kid it took me a really long time to learn English, because I’m first generation and my parents both didn’t speak English. So it was really hard for me to like read, write, or just understand in general. So being able to help someone that has a similar background, to me is really beautiful.”
